(Not sure I could really manage Alicia Keys, though).

ALW - I feel the same, I hear much less new music here I think.

HOM - giggling. Just giggling.

NB - Ah but I trade you Miley Cyrus for GA!

Ms Caroline - if they are anything like the Japanese bars, you'll do well to avoid them!

Met Mum - yes, I don't think I've ever sung karaoke sober. But that's part of the fun....

Emma- just read your post; haha at the 50 year old Chinese lady singing Britney Spears! Haven't been to karaoke here - but Americans do tend to take things like that seriously....nappy valley girlhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10788949037047084412noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7290395635850697105.post-78879626987341384662011-07-07T10:17:32.366-04:002011-07-07T10:17:32.366-04:00I am from UK living in USA and am annoyed at how h...I am from UK living in USA and am annoyed at how here everyone seems to try and do 'American Idol' type thingie at Karaoke when I always thought it was just to have a laff http://mommyhasaheadache.blogspot.com/2009/11/kultural-karaoke-konfusion.htmlMommyHeadachehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03924035710478459520noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7290395635850697105.post-4136705876110147692011-07-06T16:18:02.874-04:002011-07-06T16:18:02.874-04:00To pluck up the confidence to do it, I would need ...To pluck up the confidence to do it, I would need to drink so much I couldn't stand on that stage anymore, let alone sing.Metropolitan Mumhttp://www.metropolitanmum.co.uknoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7290395635850697105.post-30764521306155078742011-07-05T20:16:03.510-04:002011-07-05T20:16:03.510-04:00I've never sung Karaoke in my life, although I...I've never sung Karaoke in my life, although I've listened to others doing it. I don't listen to much pop music at all; I tend to find out what's popular based on what the instructor is playing in spin class (sad, I know), although that may change now that we're in Seoul. I've heard that the Korean version of Karaoke is called 'Norebang' and that it's done in small, private rooms for a group of friends instead of a larger venue, like a bar, which seems much less intimidating. Of course, in order for me to even consider doing Karaoke, I would really have to be three sheets to the wind anyway, so the issue of location would probably be a moot point...MsCarolinehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03623997911568143459noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7290395635850697105.post-27117534058113444262011-07-05T18:00:05.765-04:002011-07-05T18:00:05.765-04:00You're safe from Girls Aloud there? It was late. I was drunk. It was a Japanese place. I sang Dancing Queen by Abba. I started singing and heard a godawful noise, like a cat being strangled. I stopped singing to hear what it was. The noise stopped. I started singing and it started again. Took me a while to realise the awful noise was me. Have never done it again.Home Office Mumhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18248456622235889204noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7290395635850697105.post-86263157478565828512011-07-03T21:10:05.729-04:002011-07-03T21:10:05.729-04:00Yes, I also know all the words to many of Taylor&#...Yes, I also know all the words to many of Taylor's numbers, part of being in America I guess...my music knowledge has stagnated a bit since I got here.About Last Weekendhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04716571630418078937noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7290395635850697105.post-52982699429864170842011-07-03T17:34:34.831-04:002011-07-03T17:34:34.831-04:00Great song choice, shows you are really becoming a...Great song choice, shows you are really becoming a convert New Yorker :) Can you actually sing in tune?
