It's a while since I took part in Tara's fabulous Gallery, so I'm going to put that right this week. The subject is Before and After, and what better way to illustrate this than the onset of winter? The first pictures were taken just a couple of weeks ago; even yesterday, the trees were still golden outside our house with leaves fluttering down prettily in the breeze. But what a difference a night of rain and gales makes. Today our driveway is ankle deep in leafy debris, and the house (shady in summer) is newly infused with bright winter light. Now I truly get why it is called the Fall.
My blog used to be called Nappy Valley. But now I've moved to the dizzy heights of Crystal Palace (via a spell as an expat on Long Island, New York). And my Littleboys are long out of nappies.

I love the colours of the before shots but it is nice to have a fresh infusion of sunlight where one does not usually get to enjoy it.
The colours are fabulous in autumnal browns and yellows and oranges...but they disappear so quickly...
Lovely. I wished I'd done this when Tara set "Seasons", clever old you for thinking to do it now!
We had some beautiful colours in our garden a few weeks ago and I kept telling myself to go out and take a photo of them. I could kick myself now.
Great idea for the theme!
My street is exactly the same now and it was full of lovely autumnal leafy trees two weeks ago. I don't think I'll ever get used to the fact that everything dies off here in the winter. My garden is a disaster. It looks like someone has scorched it.
Too organised ;-)
ps. my blog has moved to http://www.notestoselfplustwo.com, come say hello
xx Notes xx
It looks so lovely and peaceful :)
Oh I miss the LI autumns....it's just not the same around London!
Beautiful! What a lovely neighbourhood you live in--before or after! Now, will you be out raking leaves like I'll bet all your neigbours will be? I was wading through leaves in my garden a few days ago wondering if that's something I should be doing, then forgetting about it until I saw this...
beautiful pics....have just been catching up on all your blogs! Yep, internet DOES exist in India...sorta :)
Ahhh, noooo, don't do that to me. Don't say it's winter already!! Denial? Me? *shivers in her t-shirt*
Hi, lovely pics, we've had a gd Autumn here too. 20' & loads of sunlight. In the last week or 2 it's suddenly been wet but still mild until today. bit of a shock. So glad u had such a gd time in chicago. Sorry I've not been commenting. Had intermittent or no internet for 2 1/2 mths, so been snatching moment sin internet cafes etc, but not conducive to leisurely blog reading & commenting! Finally back online now.
All the lovely colors will soon turn into white=)
