Winter's last gasp

We thought you were long gone.

Last week, the air was soft and mild. Crocuses, violets and even tulip leaves emerged tentatively from hard ground, and tiny pink blossoms appeared on the trees' bare branches.

On Friday, schoolkids queued at the newly reopened ice cream parlour wearing nothing but t-shirts. Littleboy 1 went to the park in his Crocs, and to school without a coat. We even - shock, horror - opened a window one night because it was too warm in our room.
We thought Spring was finally here.

But you weren't finished with us yet. Good thing we didn't pack away the snow shovels.

Here's hoping it doesn't come this way across the pond as I've enjoyed this week of sunshine here ( warm too)and desperate for it to continue!!

And the sledges too, right? Or are you tired of sleding by now? I won't tell you then that it is meant to be 17C here today. Enjoy the last of winter!

Expat Mum - I know, what's going on? No sign of it warming up next week, either....

Rosie - we have sun today, but it's still really cold - cold air from Canada is to blame, apparently....

About last weekend - nice to meet you! Hopefully the frost won't kill my flowers.....

Mum in meltdown - ah, but the thing about England is that it can feel like March in July......

A Modern Mother - not enough snow for sledding (and actually it all melted later that day) - but I hear the ski resorts have had one of their best ever seasons....
